Thor Olson (B.S. Physics 1976, M.S. E.E. 1984)

                                                       

Married in 1977, Completed MSEE just prior to son's birth in 1984. I enjoy photography, amateur astronomy, camping, hiking and bicycling.

Designed geophysical instrumentation. Joined start-up company (Vertimag by UM professors in Dinkytown) to develop high density magnetic recording. Developed high resolution film recording equipment yielding Academy Award (1992). I am now working on color management and color image processing techniques.

I fondly remember activities in the informal undergraduate physics club "Roving Photons," participation in cosmic ray research program with C.J. Waddington and Phyllis Freier, and "CRISIS" Cosmic Ray Isotope Separation..."

Favorite Professors: Stephen Gasiorowicz - Quantum Mechanics, George Freier - Atmospheric Physics, Roger Stuewer - History of Physics, and Walter Weyhmann - Physics of Photography.
